2004 Conference of The Jungian Society

Salve Regina University (SRU), Newport, RI, 5-7 August, 2004

Call for Papers

The Jungian Society (TJS) -- founded by a group of dedicated scholars -- studies, disseminates, and develops the works and theories of Carl Gustav Jung and the Post-Jungians, especially as applied to literature and the other arts. TJS organizes a yearly interdisciplinary academic conference at which members can present scholarly papers, organize roundtable discussions, and provide interactive workshops in which Jungian psychological theory is used to advance awareness of the individual and of the individual's connection to the entire life community.

The 2004 TJS Conference will be held at Salve Regina University (SRU), in Newport, RI. Limited single and double occupancy housing has been arranged for an extremely reasonable price at SRU (details available upon request). SRU is a short Trolley ride to downtown Newport.

The dates of the conference are Thursday-Saturday, August 5-7, 2004.

Newport is world renown as the summer retreat of the rich and powerful, the first capital of the colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, and the home of the International Tennis Hall of Fame. It boasts several beaches and tours of famous late 19th and early 20th century mansions (featured in such films as The Great Gatsby, Mr. North, and True Lies). It also is the location of Hammersmith Farms, the family home of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. (She and Senator Jack Kennedy were married at St. Mary's Church in Newport.) The city also was the major location site for Steven Spielberg's film Amistad.
